At the beginning of the year, I posted the piece Of days and lands laid waste. The poem told the story of the birthing of the universe and her maturation through the eyes of a little girl. (At least I think that's what it was about.)
Well, I wanted to share with you the sort of sequel to that poem, which I'm calling With eyes of her. You'll notice a lot of related imagery here, I think, but from another character's perspective.
Anywho, without further ado, please enjoy.
---------------------------
With eyes of her
The boy he saw with eyes of her
The tender custard of her smile
He looked upon and looked a while
And wondered what was too within
He glanced her face, her darkened eyes
Her auburn locks with slight of curl
The tullied tuckled tattered dress
Her sandy throne atop the world
And as in curio he thought
"what she was now, what had she of"
Of lands and men and sunburnt sets
Of heaven down and hell above
And saundered he from sweet below
From heaven's cloud, the sweet below
With devils' eyes and sweetened breath
And clevered vows upon his chest
Which touched he to her back of palm
And drew her eyes to sight of him
He whistled forth a gentle psalm
It kindly crafted on a whim
And as in hymnal thought and bond
He saw a tear fall to her cheek
From watered eyes and bothered brow
To penciled-in emotive speak
And fell it from her cheek to chest
It trickled down with dragged tail
Then meeting cloth, it came rest
Encoffined in the seaming sail
And as she turned immortal eyes
From darkened lands to hell-sent beau
She wondered why was death upon
the tendered crop of hell in tow
Then angel's side and devil's wake
Came piercing through the heaven's lake
At planted thereby at her side
That tepid tear there to abide
And squeeze what might from dawn or fright
The boy of heaven's sweet below
Was startled by the start'ling night
And curled his finless back in two
And curled his finless back in tow
The heaven scent of heaven blue
The earthy touch of earthly beau
And swam he from the sea anon
In waving form and moonlit set
He peddled in and paddled on
into the riddled seas' regret
And saw he not with eyes abright
The sweet and tender of her smile
And saw instead the frown and blight
Of unencumbered sands of mile
Enchanted he enchanted paused
And glanced upon the touch of skin
He wondered of what too within
The girl whose place upon the throne
Came from afar to to alone
And rested he, and watch and stay
From from afar to to today
And stayed it in and stayed a while
In sun and sky and moonish blend
Went tumbling down the tumbled aisle
Went trippling through the trippled sin
And as in wait with crimpled fin
He saw the look of her in sea
Reflecting on reflections in
And courting there their galaxy
And say he now to fish or fowl
The wonder of unfettered un-
Of friend or when or penned-in speak
In knowing all and seeing none
He foamy as he turned it then
The sea and blast and vastly sky
Of world of all and world of men
A whispered vow too, to abide
And rushed he to her sinner'd sigh
With clevered vows upon his chest
And as he with his fishy grin
Came ruffling through the world in two
He looked it on and looked of you
This world of one unborn anew
He looked it on and looked it in
This world of wonder born again
